Holiday memories of times in Cape Town & surrounds

I have been to Cape Town quite a bit over the last few years. I’ve always had moderately good weather – by this I mean the sun shone and the wind blew. Maybe the Cape just didn’t like me, maybe it was trying to tell me to stay in Gauteng – I don’t know.

I’ve had some days with sunshine and great beach weather. The “warm weather” however was never enough to keep me in the cold Atlantic. I admit, I swam a bit, but I think you need a wetsuit most of the time not to go into hypothermia – but that is just me.

Why did I always go back to Cape Town? Well, it is so laid back. The people do everything slower than us up here in Johannesburg. They drive slow, the walk slow, they breathe slow... I always wish that I could switch off or slow down like them, but unfortunately I can’t. The second reason would definitely be that there is an ocean (not that Durban doesn’t have a better one) and its blue.

My favourite thing to do while on holiday when in the Cape has to be to walk on the beach. The sand is soft and white, much finer than Durban’s. Plus to top it off, very few people crowd you when you shuffle into the icy waters!
